Why “W.A.I.T.”?
The W.A.I.T. program is designed for grades 7 to 12 and is presented in different ways. There is a one-hour power point presentation that addresses very directly pressures faced by our teens on a daily basis. Dealing not only with the physical side of sexuality, discussion on the intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual components of sexuality are considered. We look at media and its battle for financial control over teens. Discussion includes viewing various advertisements and focuses on how to filter the message of the advertisement — to discover just what is being “sold”. At the end of the presentation teens are challenged to practice sexual abstinence.
The format of this program is such that it can also be presented over a period of time where topics are discussed in greater depth with accompanying worksheets.
Training for W.A.I.T. is current in order to keep the material cutting edge. Certification is available should the trainer wish to pursue this option.
W.A.I.T. is available for any youth group or organization as well as middle and high schools.
