Volunteer application
Dear Friend:
Thank you for your interest in the Pregnancy Resource Centre of Moncton. We have many volunteer opportunities available to those who have a heart and willingness to give of their time. The Pregnancy Resource Centre ministers in word and deed to young women and their families with pregnancy related needs. It offers loving alternatives to abortion by helping women make decisions that value both her life and that of her unborn baby.
Within our society, there is a growing concern for social issues and injustices. These multiplying concerns can often make us feel overwhelmed. Here’s a way to help! Each person you interact with allows opportunity to turn helplessness into hope – one person at a time.
As you look through this packet, examine the Pregnancy Resource Centre’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Principles. As a faith-based organization these documents are important to us. Both staff and volunteers of the PRC need to be in agreement with these documents. In addition, confidentiality is of extreme importance. We value the trust each client gives to us. As a volunteer or staff person your interaction with each person must maintain the highest level of confidentiality so as not to break this trust.
In the application package are three reference forms – one to be completed by a pastor/minister and two by non-relatives who have known you for more than two years. The Criminal Record form must also be completed. One is enclosed for you, which, upon completion must be taken to the Codiac Regional RCMP, 520 Main Street along with two pieces of identification. Once you have completed your application form, please return it to our office. At that time an appointment will be set to further discuss areas of ministry that interest you.
We are excited that you are interested in volunteering with us! If you have any questions as you complete the application please do not hesitate to contact me at 857-3033.
Sincerely,
Connie Thurber

Statement of Faith
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, Word of God, the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal and bodily return in power and great glory.
- We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful humanity is possible only through the merits of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and that it is received by faith and characterized by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
- We believe that the indwelling Holy Spirit enables believers to live a holy life and to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe in the judgement of both the living and the dead. Those that are saved will experience eternal life and those that are lost will experience eternal damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of all true believers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ministry description
The Pregnancy Resource Centre is a private, non-profit charity. We are multi-denominational in scope and supported primarily by churches, individuals, local businesses, corporations and the fund-raising efforts of the Centre staff and volunteers. We are an outreach ministry of the Christian church to women in crisis pregnancies, providing information on alternative options other than abortion. We accomplish this task by providing pregnancy tests, emotional, physical, spiritual and material support as well as peer counseling. These services are given free of charge to our clients.
We understand the many difficulties facing young, pregnant women in need and we are prepared to help these women in life affirming alternatives. It is our position that every abortion claims an innocent human life. We also explain why “safe-sex” outside marriage is a myth and a lie, and teach that abstinence before marriage is the only 100% safe, effective method of birth control.
Through our abstinence program, we reach hundreds of teenagers in both church settings and schools. With the ever-increasing number of AIDS cases, sexually transmitted diseases and abortions, it is of extreme importance that we give our young people a clear message on sexuality. We teach them that their only hope for a future free from the worry of an unplanned pregnancy and/or sexually transmitted disease is abstinence.
Statement of Principles
- The Pregnancy Resource Centre (PRC) is an outreach ministry of Christ through His church. Therefore, the PRC, embodied in its ministry workers, is committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord both in word and deed to those who are experiencing crisis pregnancies. Commensurate with this purpose, board members, volunteers, and staff are expected to know Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
- The PRC is committed to providing its clients with complete and accurate information relative to abortion, post-abortion trauma, single parenting, and adoption.
- The PRC is committed to integrity in dealing with clients, earning their trust, and providing promised information and services. The PRC denounces any form of deception in its corporate advertising or individual conversations with clients.
- The PRC is committed to creating awareness within the local community of the needs of those experiencing a crisis pregnancy and the fact that abortion only compounds human need rather than resolving it.
- The PRC is committed to making young people aware of the advantages of abstinence before marriage.
- The PRC does not discriminate in providing services because of race, colour, national origin, age, sex or marital status of its clients.
- The PRC does not recommend, provide, or refer for abortion or abortifacients.
- The PRC does not recommend, provide, or refer single women for contraceptives. (A married woman seeking contraceptive information should be urged to seek counsel from a physician.)
- The PRC recognizes the value of adoption as an alternative to abortion but does not arrange adoptions and does not work in any contractual way with any adoption agencies. The PRC does not arrange independent adoptions. The PRC does not share office space with any adoption agency. A client seeking this option will be referred to Family and Community Services.
- The PRC is committed to offering all client services free of charge.
